MUKAH: A long queue of people at a bank here caught the attention of the Mukah Resident Office.

Mukah Division Resident Hamdiah Bakir said she took note of the situation as some Bantuan Prihatin Nasional (BPN) recipients, as reported, came very early in the morning to get their transactions done.

“We have brought the matter to the attention of the higher authorities, hoping that more banks could be appointed to assist," she said in her welcoming speech at an appreciation ceremony at the New Mukah Administrative Centre here yesterday.

The ceremony was to thank the workers (frontliners) of the divisional and district disaster management committees in appreciation of their contributions during the movement control order (MCO), conditional movement control order (CMCO) and recovery movement control order (RMCO).

Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister and Dalat assemblywoman Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah was the guest of honour at the ceremony.

Hamdiah thanked both committees for their assistance in distributing food aid to the people affected by the MCO and CMCO.
