DALAT: A total of 13 contingents comprising more than 500 participants took part in a parade in conjunction with the Maulidur Rasul celebration here yesterday.

The contingent members comprised of various government and private agencies as well as uniformed bodies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and students.

The celebration began with Dalat assemblywoman cum Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah leading the contingents in a 2.7-kilometre parade around the town to the Stadium Perpaduan Dalat.

The celebration was followed by recitation of Quranic verses and performances of poems, prayers, Nasyid, Qasidah and Tazkirah.

The event was organised by Dalat District Office in collaboration with Islamic Welfare Board (Lakid), mosque and surau management committees and Dalat/Oya branch of Perkim.

The ceremony also witnessed the presentation of Poor People's Home Improvement Allowance to 26 recipients, Imam and Khatib Al-Muslihin Dalat Mosque certificate of appreciation and presentation of prizes to winners of the various competitions held in conjunction with the celebration.
